A stage with a highlight right at the start: the Hammelsberg nature reserve opens up a wide view of the Moselle valley. Another highlight of the stage is the Roman Villa Borg. Here, a Villa Rustica has been faithfully restored and rebuilt. The route continues through vineyards and along country lanes to the heights of the Saargau and on to the village of Hellendorf.

Wegbeschreibung

We start at the baroque garden in Perl and continue to the heights above the Moselle valley. There we cross narrow paths through quaint forests that are under nature protection. In between, the route passes through the cross-border nature reserve “Hammelsberg” for two kilometers, with orchid meadows and magnificent views of the Moselle valley.We can enjoy these views particularly well from a bench for the senses.Before we head towards Borg, we descend to Weidof Sehndorf.After passing under the highway, we reach the heights between the Moselle and Saar, also with wide views. The next few kilometers lead on flat terrain, mainly over paths, past several forest ponds through the forests near Borg. Right in the middle of it, we experience the wonderfully reconstructed Roman villa complex with a Roman tavern.At km 17.9 we reach the access road to Hellendorf, the stage destination, which is 500 m away.

Ausrüstung

The Saar-Hunsrück Climb is a trail close to nature, 70% of which is over soft forest soil, grassy paths or along streams. However, this special quality can also lead to problems after long periods of rain, making parts of the trail difficult to walk on. That is why sturdy shoes are recommended.
